    please explain functionalist perspective on social inequality.

      Hi – functionalist don’t recognise social inequality in the way Marxists do, instead they talk about society functioning through the establishment of a collective conscious around ideas such as meritocracy. Therefore anyone finding themselves at the bottom of the pile, so to speak, has only themselves to blame. In this way meritocracy helps establish as value consensus. Hope that helps 🙂
