Work in an industrial society

  • workers could no longer control the speed they worked or the profit margins
  • the factory owner had all the power over the worker as everything is produced in factories
  • the speed of production is dictated by machinery
  • productivity (how much workers produce within a given time) became a growing concern leading to the idea that workers can’t be trusted so need workplace supervision
  • all the above points are indicative to an industrial society
