  • Taylorism – is the scientific management of workplace tasks
  • his 1911 book ‘Principles Of Scientific Management’ laid down the principles of large scale production lines
  • Scientific management – was the idea every workforce needed to be tightly controlled in order to enhance worker performance to improve production (like the way a machine is engineered into small repetitive tasks) eliminating the need to skills
  • ‘time and motion’ studies broke every workplace task down into the smallest of details
  • Taylor’s scientific management principles were used by Henry Ford in car production lines a process which became known as Fordism
