Compensatory education

Compensatory education (positive discrimination) is used by the state to compensate for the social inequalities outside of school affecting educational outcomes.

Examples are:

  • Operation Head Start/Surestart
  • Educational Action Zones;
  • Educational Priority Areas;
  • Pupil Premium; 16 – 19 Bursary Fund
