Global Culture
This merger between high and low culture could be a product of globalisation.
Is our culture unique or does it differ from country to country? Make a list of the similarities and differences between the cultures in different countries. Refer to your list as you watch the following clip.
Again refer to your list while watching the next clip but also think of the relationship between the two clips. What might they be telling you about the cultures in different countries?
Though you will have explored many differences and similarities between each country which is more evident, the similarities or differences between cultures? The next clip should help you answer this point.

Make a list of all the products which you know to be avaliable in the vast majority of countries around the world. This process is know as globalization.
Globalization is the growing interdependence of societies across the world which is evident in the same culture, consumer goods and economic interests. In this way globalization has helped to create a global culture. What does the term global culture man to you?
So far we’ve examined what culture is, the differences between high and low culture along with postmodern views on culture in a globalized world. But what has all this to do with you? What is the relationship between culture and who you are? In other words would it affect your identity? However before we examine what identity is we need to check we’re clear about what we’ve already learned.
