Organisational constraints
Newspapers and TV programmes tend to work within very tight time frames. There’s often a 24-hour news production cycle, as newspapers and TV news programmes report news on a daily basis. With the growth of new media Internet based technologies such as Twitter, established media outlets like the BBC sometimes have to compete against the speed of new media news.
This means short-cuts to news gathering may need to be taken, so that news stories aren’t checked as carefully as they should be and any alternative viewpoints not investigated.
