Functionalism and religion

Parsons argued that religion provides meaning and answers to questions about humanity for members in society
Individuals can be hit by events that they don’t know the outcome of or questions that they don’t know the answer to,
and religion helps to answer these questions and maintain social order in these times.
Parsons argued that religion maintains social order, therefore acting as a conservative force.
