Alienation

 

  • alienated by the lack of job satisfaction from having no workplace autonomy, the worker achieves no satisfaction from work
  • subsequently, work is seen as simply as a means of earning money – extrinsic satisfaction
  • in contrast, intrinsic satisfaction arises from careers where satisfaction from the job itself is more important than money
  • Marxists views about alienation starts from ruling-class exploiting workers (low pay, poor working conditions etc) to the extent they can’t even afford to buy the goods they produce
